A Different Type Of Green – Plant Based Uses For Bongs

Group of young people using bongs

If your bongs have seen better days and you’re looking for a natural way to repurpose them within your home, you’ve come to the right place. Today we’ll be looking at these green accessories in a different light and exploring six plant based uses for bongs. Read on to learn more.

Propagation Station

The first of our favourite plant based uses for bongs is as a propagation station. Many plants will happily sprout from seeds when provided with nothing more than some water to live in and a sunny home. Unfortunately, propagation stations can be quite expensive to purchase and depending on where you get them from, your seeds might die before their new home even arrives. To get around this, simply clean out one of your old bongs and fill it up with some nice fresh water.

Watering Can

Alternatively, if your old bongs won’t make the best propagation stations, they could be better suited to use as a watering can. Literally anything can be used to water your plants and old bongs are a great choice as they offer excellent aeration. This means that by letting water sit within them for about 24 hours before watering your plant babies, you can get rid of a lot of the chemicals in tap water that can be harmful to plants.

Vase

Got some old decorative bongs laying around? Why not turn them into vases. Oddly designed flower holders are in style right now so it’s a great time to capitalise on this trend and put your old smoking accessories to good use.

Pot

Yes, we’re well aware of the pun here, but did you know that old bongs can make great plant pots? Simply break off the stem if you’re wishing to house a plant that has a wider leaf span and fill the base up with soil. You’ll obviously need to do this carefully, and should always take steps to remove sharp edges before leaving your new plant pots around your home, but it’s a great way to showcase your style without going out and buying super expensive pots.

Note: This generally only works for smaller plants but is still a great use of resources. When a plant’s root system has outgrown the bowl of its pot, it is always wise to replant it to avoid deterioration or death.

Mixing Fertiliser

Need to mix up some liquid fertiliser for your plants but don’t have any test tubes? Break out your unwanted smoking accessories and give them new life. You’ll want to be sure to clean them properly but they’re a great substitute.

Aquatic Plant Home

Finally, if you’ve got a fish tank and are trying to grow plants in it but your fish keep eating them before they can mature, your old bongs could be just what the doctor ordered. Anything that can be filled with water and kept under the right conditions can serve as a home for baby aquatic plants and turning your old smoking accessories into a place for them to grow quite obviously saves them from getting attacked by fish who have the munchies. Simply allow your aquatic plant to flourish in this home until there’s enough of it to survive in your tank without becoming a snack that disappears overnight and then transfer it across to your tank – viola.
So, those are our favourite plant-based solutions for repurposing your old bongs. We’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these in the comments below and if you’ve got your own suggestions for inventive ways to use old bongs, we’d love to hear those too.
